Haslina Hussin

Haslina Hussin, originating from the richly biodiverse region of Sabah in the Malaysian state of Borneo, is a dedicated environmentalist and a vocal advocate for sustainability and climate action. As the Director of Climate and Biodiversity at CarbonTrace, she plays a crucial role in leading projects that address the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.

Haslina brings extensive experience in biological conservation and ecology, including hands-on fieldwork and expertise in biodiversity preservation. She is recognized as an adept environmentalist, strategist, and researcher, with a deep passion for working on impactful decarbonization projects. These projects not only combat climate change and protect biodiversity but also significantly improve the quality of life for communities benefiting from them.

On the academic front, she holds a BSc. (Hons) in Conservation Biology from the University of Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and a Master of Philosophy specializing in Environmental Engineering from the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur. Her extensive knowledge in both fields enables her to tackle the intertwined issues of climate change and biodiversity loss with a holistic and comprehensive approach.
